    405 Winchester with a belt

I take 9.3x66 case and run it thru my homemade belting dies and..........I end up with a 405 belted case that can be loaded with 405 dies
I also rebate the rim to .473".
Waiting on a Shilen Barrel.......and I also need to grind a reamer.
The case holds 78 grains of water.
I like the cut off 260 grain X bullet, but with deeper free bore I can load the 300 to a length of 2.530"
The ole Axis test gun is getting a work out!
Also working on a 444 Belted using a 9.3x62 case.

    More pictures! More story!
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

It was late and I got confused.....again.
    Hope this one makes sense.

I have the 06 mag ordered. Bought the shorter trigger guard. My 243 HB will soon be a long action.

The 405B mag is long enough to let me seat a 300 X out another band, making plenty of room for powder.
I just need to throat the bore deeper. Not sure about that, yet.
    Shown with a 268X.
    And,
The Shilen .411 barrel is being shipped, now I have to make the reamer.

The finish and die reamers are ground round. Just need to relieve the cutting flutes.

And either buy or make the pilot bushing. .252 pilot.

I did not make the belt step, I will cut that separate.

8 degree taper, .100 freebore ].313] and 1.1/2 degree throat. It is like having .200 freebore.

While I had the taper set, I decided to cut the die reamer also.

And the best part is, you can also shoot belted 06 brass.

    [ UPDATE ]

Just ran a starting load thru the new chamber. Hodgdon calls for 55.0 of Varget at 2079 fps. with a 24" barrel. [starting load ]
I made a 23" barrel and got 2039 fps for my first test shot. [ Hornady 300 FP ]
So I am right on par with 405 Winchester load data.
Plastic stock and steel one pc. base weigh in at an even 7#s.
