I've just been watching "Trapped" Season 1, the Icelandic crime drama, on Amazon Prime video. I was captivated by it and hope they present Season 2, eventually. Iceland looks like a beautiful, fascinating place. I believe there was a Savage rifle that played a significant part in the plot, or it certainly looked like one. Bolt action with thumbhole laminate stock. Are Savage rifles especially popular in Iceland?
Welcome aboard
Hi
I am not sure about the rifle in trapped (haven't seen the show) ..
Savage rifles are fairly common in Iceland but Sako, Tikka and Remington are probably the most popular.
I own a few Remington rifles but am trying out the Savage as my main hunting rifle. I am thinking about a few changes to the rifle but nothing dramatic. Maybe a new stock and a new scope (scope not changes to the rifle it self but the setup )
Regards Gunnar
What's it like to own a few rifles in Iceland? Is ammunition easily obtained? Can you buy components and load your own, the way I do? I'd imagine you have to jump through some bureaucratic hoops to clear it with your local constabulary? So many uninformed people in the US think that Europe is a gun-free zone, and I keep telling them it isn't necessarily so.
And Iceland isn't even in Europe.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
I guess I displayed my ignorance on that one. Good for them.
Well Iceland actually is a part of Europe
Gun control is pretty strict here but once you have gone through a course that the government has it is fairly easy from there. There are many stores in Iceland that sell guns and ammunition and you can also require a license to load your own ammunition. But here you are required by law to own a gun safe if you own more then 2 guns (don't ask me where they came up with that number). It's all pretty easy but a little time consuming.
I guess the last laugh is on me!
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Welcome to the savage family.
Ackley was right all along
