Upgrading to a Bell & carlson Stock - Tech Question

I have been doing some research and have made the decision to upgrade the stock on my Savage Model 16 300 WSM, I setteled on the Bell & Carlson Varmit/tactical. Here is my question, is this project something that a novice like myself can do or do I need to send it off to a smith? Will I need to have the action bedded?
