Serial # information

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Savage collector world. I would like to thank you for allowing me into this forum. I had no trouble finding the serial # on my Model 99, but I cannot find a letter. Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Try the bottom of the receiver just in front of the lever.

I have tried the serial # you suggested, and there is no letter there, just a 6 digit number(401***),also, I have checked any other numbers on the rifle, and no luck. If this helps, it is a takedown model. Do you have any other ideas?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That ser# would put it at 1941, the lever boss codes were not used until 1949.
All four of mine have the ser# where I said. The newest I have was built in 1930.
If I'm corrrect you have a 99G with pistol grip and checkering. 1941 was the last year of production. (WWII)
