    An Interesting Savage 1907 32

Six were made only three are known. These pistol were specially made for the 1912 U.S. pistol shooting team participating in the Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden. They were ordered with two special features. The first "UNITED STATES OLYMPIC TEAM / 1912" engraved on the back strap. The barrels were special ordered with one turn twist in twelve inches. Participants on the team were J.A. Dietz, P.J. Dolfen, A.P. Lane, Hans Roedder, Dr. H.H. Sayre, and Dr. H.E. Sears. The records don't indicate which pistol went to which team member. A.P. Lane was a gold medalist in the 30m rapid fire and the 50m free pistol competitions. Lane, Dietz, Dolfen, and Sears were gold medalists in the 50m free pistol team competition. As stated by John T. Callahan, the Savage historian to the owners name on the letter, " YOU HAVE ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL SAVAGE PISTOLS OF ALL VERSIONS.
