"inexpensive?" 2000 yd group and score based on a 111 action

this is a "inexpensive" 2000 yard group and score rifle
    "hunter" class under 18 lbs
    boyds varmint stock laminate
stock 111 la recvr plus a thicker recoil lug
    timney trigger
krieger mtu 28" bbl 8" straight at 1.250, then taper to .965,
will be match 300 win mag, neck turned, muzzle 3/4-24 for 9" suppressor( already own, so no cost)
egw 0 moa hd base, ivey 150 moa adjustable rings( got them 1/2 off) and 12-42x nf scope..(blew the budget there)
object is to shoot 220 solids at over 2800
shot off a hunting bipod and rear bag
if there is room i will add lead to the butt.

i have the reamer, and a throater, and a lathe

this is called "inexpensive" because the other rifle i am building
is the next class up. it has a 40 lb limit, i will be under 20.
but i am probably over $7000 in parts in that rifle.

    Pictures or it didn't happen.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Pics are very easy. I load everything from Imgur.

Not for nothing, but there does come a point where ya need to show off your wares. “Talking” is fine & well for specifics, but people on forums are “visual”. We want to see. And with the many free third party host sites(like Imgur I mention), there really is no excuse.

Ill say you certainly made quite a step in progress Mike! From a couple stock Savages in 308, to disassembly of your 111 bolt for the first time, to building this all in the last few years...and another FAR more advanced! Impressive!

Sounds like a great plan. There is a 2K yard shoot off in MT., I think your build fits right in. I was day dreaming of a similar build in 300 PRC. Good luck, keep us in the loop.

I would say if someone doesnt know you can build precision on a basic savage action they either have a axe to grind or have just never tried. I have several savage rifles that I've done no more than a barrel swap, trigger tune and stock swap ( $1000 dollar build ups)and I'm shooting .00X groups. Then again, if people like spending 5 to 8k on a custom more power to em:)

sorry while your basic statement is correct,
    "and I'm shooting .00X groups."
    is pure bs
the world record stood for about 40 years as 0.009, and was recently broken and set as 0.007.

There are 4 through the same hole at little over 100 yards. I spent 4 zeroing the scope then drove 4 through the same hole.. pretty sure that would qualify as 00X... xp trophy 11 action, shilen barrel, houge stock and light spring for accu adjustable from northland shooter supply.

What would you measure it then, when you flattened it out it would measure anywhere from .308 to .315 diameter... that is a .007 spread.. I'll give you the one that hit a touch low but the main group had .007 in differences... obviously it's a. 308 rifle

I always felt that one hole represented all shots went through the same hole without enlarging the hole. If shots are contiguous they have opened up the hole or enlarged it.

This conversation opened my eyes up to the concept of that being To strict of a definition. Truley. Your target is one hole with four shots. However it is not 4 shots in the same location.

I might consider it to be in the low .2XX or even high .1XX if I saw some dial(with 0 at 12:00 and not digital) calipers adjacent to the hole. What is the diameter of the red dot? (with calipers showing dimensions)

"You were banned on this site too. That's 3 i know of."
some places i consider it a badge of honor.
two children on this site got me banned on a site over the very subject
of 300 win mag at 2000 yards. they were proven wrong so they cried to management that
    i hurt their feelings.
