20 moa base for model 12 FV

I am new to this long range shooting thing and have a question about the 20 moa base. I just bought a model 12 fv in 223 and plan to put a 6-20 I think it is Leupold scope that I already have on it. The longest range the club I belong to has is 600 yards. If I put a 20 moa base on this rifle will I still be able to zero the rifle at 100 yards? If I enjoy this type of shooting I may get another Model 12 FV in 6.5 Creedmore and put a Vortex Golden Eagle on it and possibly try shooting at other ranges at 1000 yards. Would the 20 moa base be what I would want for this rifle also and would I still be able to zero it at 100 yards?

I searched 20 moa base in this optics forum and didn't see the answer to this question I may not have gone down for enough.

Oops I just noticed that this question shouldn't even be here. Moderator excuse me and please delete the question. I will do a search in the "rifle" forum.

Yes, you will have no trouble zeroing at 100 yards.

What dictates when one might need a 20 moa base? I hope 61-63 doesn't think this question is a hijack question

I am curious why you would bother with the rail...at 600 yards you are looking at ~13 moa, just dial it up.

Folks are answering so I will post again too. I found lots of info on 20moa bases on both this forum and others and my take on it is that I do not need one of them if I stick to my home club range which has a 600 yard range max, but if I start shooting 1000 yards I may want one. The scopes I plan to use have 45 and 55 I think it was moa of adjustment in them so 600 yards is doable with either one with a 0moa base.

    I appreciate the answers.

I guess, better to have one and not need it than need it and not have one. I have both 0 and 20 MOA and have never shot far enough to need the 20 MOA. But, it is there if I do and I have never had issues zeroing. So, if you think you might need it, I don't see any reason not to get it. About the only reason not to is most 20 MOA rails cost more than the 0 MOA rails.

Was kind of my thinking too, I have it if needed and it isn't hurting anything if I don't.
