    Barrel swap on 12FVSS .270WSM

Would it be practical to change barrels and caliber on this rifle? Cost effective and so on? Obstacles or other issues that might creep up?

I inherited this one and never shoot it. Have tried to sell it over the last year or so but no takers.

    i was thinking of changing calibers...which one I don't know. Maybe .308...

Factory 270WSM is most likely a large shank. Be sure before you buy a barrel.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Why not stick with the 270WSM? It’s a fantastic hunting round for just about anything you want to hunt, especially if you reload your own ammo.

Maybe asking price is too high?
Have you tried the classifieds here?
Gunbroker no reserve penny auction will get it sold.
Don't sweat it too much if the price stays scarily low until just before the auction closes.
They usually bring a fair market price to both buyer and seller and have a national audience.

Also as Robinhood stated the WSM is most likely a large shank whereas the majority of Savages are small shank and you need to be sure before buying a barrel. You'll also need a bolt head and a magazine. It would most likely cost a couple of hundred to do the conversion, or you could sell what you have, maybe put some with it and straight up buy what you want.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.

The WSM bolt head is a little longer than a 308 bolt head. You might need a different firing pin assembly.
