    It just followed me home...

I tried to tell it to stay, honest I did. It just kept following me and the first thing I knew, it was in the truck...

I intend to turn this into a 450 Marlin or 458x2" American (see post in "Help me Decide") but of course I will have to play with the 375 H&H barrel too.

I have learned that Hammer feels that the 375 is adequate (in skilled hands) for bull prairie dogs if the range isn't too great. I wonder if it could even be considered for she-gophers or the occasional snarling possum? Or would that be sheer foolishness? Maybe I should punch it out to the AI version before even considering such things?

In my youth I used a 375 H&H that belonged to a friend's dad for some Armadillos and it served adequately, but that was when I was young, foolish, and thought I wasn't a mortal...

Definitely use the 375 H & H on furred critters.....burns the hair off them while you shoot! You don't even have to hit them with the bullet to get the job done. There are OTHER advantages. :)

I'll bet that one would have followed me home too. I have never really had the desire for a 375 HH per se but I have a thing for heavy hitting rifles and probably couldn't resist. If I ever run into a 375 Ruger while I'm out window shopping, I would probably have a lot of explaining to do when I got home.

What did you give for that one if you don't mind? Any more pics?

How are you gonna get that badge of honor known as scope eye with sights like that?
You have some work to do.

I got scope eye when I was 13 from a sporterized 1903 - I know my dad saw it comming but he was always one to let me "learn by doing"!

Ctrout - it looks just like a standard 116 long action with sights. The tupperware stock HAS to go before I attempt to fire it. I have a laminated boyd's around here somewhere that I will put on it temporarily at least.

But does it have a rifle barrel, or carbine?

The bolt is on the correct side - none of those backwards guns for me! It is a 24" carbine.

So no PD bulls even if I limit myself to broadside shots with solids?

It's up to you, but I would strongly recommend doing so only with an experienced guide backing you up with a 470 nitro express, minimum.

Use it ONLY when the young are just emerging after they have left mom and have your 4WD handy for a FASSST get away.

On another site Hammer suggested RPGs as a minimum weapon for taking out charging bull p dogs.

Congrats man, I'm jealous. I don't really have a use for a 375 but I've wanted one of those to have a magazine long enough to make a repeater in 300 weatherby, ultra mag, etc.

Let us know how it shoots. I've been looking at one of those for a while now, mostly as a platform to build off of.
