I have been working on some new loads for Savage 11 22-250 Rem. I have a 6-18 scope on the rifle. I have been trying to find a decent bullet to shoot for this rifle for the last couple months. I have tried 10 different bullets and a few different powders. I think I found a good setup and in California it had to be lead free. This is a Hornady NTX 35 Gr lead free. I tried it with different seating depths and I hope I found a good round. This is my best group to date on any rifle.

Getting a group that small with a light 35 grain bullet outdoors is a real achievement.
On the east coast, my .22-250s seem to shoot well with 40 gr Nosler BTs and 52/53 gr SMKs and 52 gr Berger bullets, but they are all lead core.
I think I have only tried lead free bullets in my .30-30 (Hornady 140 gr GTXs).
How hard is it to find lead free bullets in Calif. in .224?

Cfjunkie they are pretty popular now it seems every bullet maker has a few options for bullet weight. Barnes is real big out here.
At the local range we can only shoot groups at 100 yards then it’s hitting steel to 550.

Also the Sig brass is very consistent weight and seems to be holding up very well. Probably better weight than my Norma brass for 243.
