Need Help - Which bases/rings for 116 Weather Warrior with Leupy 3-9x40 American scope

First post here. I just acquired a weather warrior in 30-06. This rifle will go to one of my sons/step sons and I want to get it right for one of them. I traded for a NIB Leupy American 3-9x40 so that's the glass I'll use. I don't want to use a rail to mount the scope and much prefer front and rear bases/rings which will allow sufficient eye relief for the leupy scope.

So men, where do I turn. I appreciate your experience and advice.

How far out do you plan to be regularly shooting

max is probably 300 yards. the young man is just a deer hunter thus far. thanks.

I would just get a set of low or medium height descent brand, Burris, Leopold warne etc

For two piece bases, I would use Burris Tactical Xtreme bases and low or medium rings (Burris Signature Zee rings). This will give you some flexibility in mounting today’s shorter tubed scopes far enough back on a Savage LA to get proper/full scope sight picture.
