The top photo is a Ruger No 1 with a smokeless ML .45 Douglas barrel. The wood is American Black Walnut. It came out of a fence row in NW Indiana. I bought the stock used but added the recoil pad and had to do some fitting. I think the fellow had TruOil on it.
The middle one is a Richards Microfit Exhibition stock I did. It is a Savage MLII with a .45 Brux interrupted fluted barrel. This is my daughter's shooting iron. She has taken 13 deer with it, of which 3 were bucks. It has the SSS (SharpShooterSupply) trigger by Fred Moreo. Excellent trigger. I do not name guns but we refer to it as the Girlie Gun.
The bottom is a Savage MLII with a .45 PacNor barrel and the same company. The stocks are quite rough when I get them, they take a lot of sanding and even some inletting. If you are willing to invest the time, I enjoy doing it to some extent. Also with the SSS trigger, all my Savages, over 10, have the SSS triggers. I never cared much for the AccuTrigger so I converted them all. Had one AccuTrigger I set too lightly and while it was loaded on the bench the sear must have slipped and it went off. My error but it convinced me to change all the the SSSs. Glad I did. Triggers are all light, about 1.5 pounds for a hunting rifle but we hunt out of fixed stands so it is not a real issue. I have more stocks of a similar nature but just wanted to show some wood stocks in this day of black and "plastic" stocks. Rest similar for the most part.
Most have no stain but I think I put Herters French Red on the lower Sav smokeless MLII.

The Ruger No. 1 has TruOil on it as I recall, the others auto clear.
