AR mounts ??

This is kind of off topic from Savage but, it is optics/mounts.

I'm mounting a Zeiss 6.5-20 on an AR Varmint flat top upper. Was planning on using Burris Super High (1") mounts. I know there's an issue with scopes being too low and too far back or ARs but, this is my first flat top so, I'm not really sure what the fix is but I'd like to get it right the first time.

    Anyone have experience ??

    Thanks.

Burris makes a AR mount that sits the scope farther forward. They sell them at SWFA for $70. Thats what I would go with if it were me. I did the riser and rings thing but it looks kinda cheesy. My dad has some Leupold Ultra High Rings which works good also but the Burris is the way I would go.

I've done the riser/med rings thing, and also the one piece base/rings, and I've decided that I like Extra-high quick detach rings the best. Specifically these made by Warne:

I can take the scope off with no tools, and put it back on with no noticeable change in zero. With this set-up, the scope also becomes a "carry handle" if you are so inclined.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Looks like the LaRue LT-104 gets the nod.

I'm using the Leupold high mount/rings on my flat top (no riser) and it's been great. My ocular just clears my Magpul BUIS and leaves enough room for a flip up cover (though a bit tight).
