Greetings all. My name is Scott. I've been on Long Range Hunting for awhile. I'm all in on Savage rifles these days so I joined Savage Shooters. I like long distance precision shooting and reloading. 260 Remington is my favorite cartridge. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome. With a 260 you’re no stranger here.
Scott, welcome to the forum. What do you get to hunt long range in Oklahoma? I have alway been envious of you guys out west with wide open places. In up-state NY you have to work to find fields over 400 yards, while we do have some long ones most of them are hilly so you can't always get in a long shot.
Welcome to the Savageshooters family...Bob

Whitetail deer. In northeast Oklahoma, we have a nice mix of prairie and hills. On the lease we just lost, there was a large coal pit on one end. When they dug the pit, they piled up the dirt making quite a large hill. From the top, I could see 1200-1300 yards. It looked over one large creek and four lightly wooded draws. The open parts had many thickets. It was nothing to see 30-40 deer a morning. The rut was especially exciting, watching bucks chase does all over the place. Although I always wanted to kill a deer at 1,000 yds or so, the furthest kill came just shy of 400 yds. We have plenty of coyotes too. I sure miss that lease!!!
