    New 22BR project

Anyone with info on 22BR running heavy 80-90grs pills? Looking for Load data, reamer dimensions, Neck Specs (Specifically no neck turn specs), and freebore dimensions.

My intent is to run 88ELDs in a 26" 7 twist barrel. Looking like Varget is the powder of choice. I will be running it from a magazine in one of my Mausingfield actions, but if you have any of the requested information above, I'd appreciate the insight.

    Thanks-

    LW

I just recieved a 7 twist 22br from Jim at Apache. My brass is on order. I'll update when I have some numbers.

Sweet, I just put in my order with Jim over the weekend. I look forward to your update here as we should have the same reamer specs.

What bullet are you planning to run?

88eld will probably be my heaviest, I have had a couple good groups with them in my 223. I have a bunch of 75-80grn as well. Should be a fun setup.

Fred should have some decent information for you with the 80 and 90gr bullets.

H 4895 worked the best for me with 80's. The 90's are a waste of time. What you gain in b.c. is lost in velocity, so it is a wash.

We have a 3200fps velocity limit, I'm looking to run them around 3025 and 3125fps. Did you have any comment on neck and freebore dimensions by chance Fred?

My reamer has a .250" neck and .060" freebore. I could push 80's at 3200 and change, no problem. When you neck 6mm brass down to .22, you get an inconsistent accumulation of brass in the neck, so I would neck them down without an expander ball and then fireform without a bullet, using bullseye and cornmeal. Once you have all the kinks blown out of the case, trim for length, then turn the necks. I have some Lapua cases that have been shot over 40 times apiece.
