New to the forum, from California

Greetings, Im new to the forum but have long been interested in Savage rifles, particularly for target shooting and long range.

12 years ago or so I purchased a Savage 10-fp with the intention of getting into long range shooting, like F-class. I learned to hand load and got some extensive practice in.

I had to take a break from shooting for school, couldn't afford ammo let alone time away from the books.

Now Im getting back into shooting and actually have a little free time and extra funds.

I see there are many more aftermarket options these days, and that the Savage logo has changed.

My goals short term with my savage are to get back into competition again if possible at long range, with a caliber that is also suitable for varmint control on a reservation in Arizona-that would be a once or twice a year thing. I plan to reload as well.

Im thinking something in .260 or 6.5 creedmore might be perfect for that.

So now I have to figure out what barrel options are suitable, what the process of re-barreling involves, and how to get it up and running relatively quickly.
