    M25 17 hornet

I just got a 17hornet last weekend and it wont extract anything fired or unfired. It's also cracked behind the trigger guard. Is this typical of savage? This is my first. Also can I rebarrel this later on?

I wouldn't say that's typical and I would contact Savage about having it looked at/repaired under warranty.

As for rebarreling, technically you could but it would be a custom job and you couldn't go with anything bigger/hotter than .204 Ruger or .223 Rem. as that's all the action is designed and rated for. All the Savage pre-fit barrels are for the Axis and 110-series rifles.

I've tried contacting them via email and off their website with no luck. If I get off 16hr shifts I'll call them. Just seems crappy to spend that much on a non functional rifle. I would prolly just do another 17hornet or a wildcat variant off the hornet case.

Just a update they are sending me new parts to hopefully solve my issues if not I think I can modify the extractor fairly simple and have it functioning perfect.

Glad to hear. Savage's C.S. via email is a little slow and spotty at times, so I always recommend people call instead.

Got the parts in and I can see a definite difference in the extractors so I decided to try and modify my old one which I got to works like a dream.
