I believe there was also an article in the Wyoming Wildlife magizine their dnr publication.
This disease is nothing to mess with , especially with dogs.
My sister is a small animal assistant here in Iowa, an in discussing this with her, she says in the midwest, it is found in coyotes and raccoons although rare.
So, all outdoorsman, should try and learn a little more about this.
I for one do not "check out" coyote scat anymore, to see what they have been eating.
Just best left alone.
It is also interesting that it seems tobe a "quite" subject when it comes to the wolves.
It re mines me of our dnr telling those of us who have seen mountain lions here, that we saw a golden retriever," they are almost impossible to distinguish from a mountain lion" according to them.
Sad that some only have their concerns in mine , instead of the overall benefit of all involved, human and wildlife.
If the wolves are tobe part of the system, they should be healthy, and not a disease threat to other species, us included, and they should also be better controlled locally, where the local dnr can remove some if it is in the best interest of all involved, weather it be low elk, moose, deer, numbers or a disease threat.
Just my opinion.
