Stealth 10BA 6.5 and Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 Mounting Rings?

    Hey guys
New to mounting anything on a gun. I know I need a torque wrench to do this properly. Any suggestions on mounting rings for this scope? Its a longer scope I know the scope bases on these rifles are set back a little more and are on the short side. Also can anyone recommend a good rifle cleaning kit ? Again newb to these types of guns. Thanks ahead of time !

You'll likely need a medium height ring just to ensure clearance for proper eye relief. Lots of good options out there (Warne, Burris Signature Zee, Vortex, etc) that will get the job done.

As for cleaning, you're best served staying away from the kits and just getting the individual things you'll need. Here's a short list...

    • Bore Guide
    • 1pc 40" Cleaning Rod (Tipton and Dewey are probably the most popular)
    • 6.5mm Jag
    • 6.5mm bore brushes (some prefer nylon, some prefer bronze)
    • 6.5mm bore mop
    • Proper size patches
    • Bore Cleaner
    • Copper Solvent

For general cleaning of the gun itself I like Gun Wipes that come packaged like baby wipes. Quick and convenient.

I tend to agree about cleaning kits. The only one I found that’s worth a crap is Otis OTS1000. That and a can of hopps gun medic, and rem-oil are all you need. As for the rings I have an evo and that same scope. I just measured and you need rings that are atleast 16mm from the rail to the bottom of the ring or 31mm from rail to center.

Evo is a totally different setup with it's full length rail.

Factory supplied 20 MOA EGW rail
Warne Maxima Series #220 rings 34mm Low rings (0.250" to bottom of scope tube)
    Bushnell Elite DMR-II Pro 3.5-21x50mm

Since he has a 30mm main tube the Medium's would be a better bet at .375" to the bottom of the main tube given the main tube's smaller diameter.

How do I find that dimension of a mount ? Look for 30mm mount with a height of .375” ?

Would these work ? Sorry there are so many price points on these things. Do I need the $130 Vortex matched rings? Or will this be ok ? https://www.opticsplanet.com/burris-...-height=medium

On that site you will see a sizing chart. This might depend a bit on your actual scope and the dia of largest part of the scope (bell). It also can be specific to the shooter and his eye for height. My guess is the low or med will work...but unfortunately you will have to measure. Again the sizing chart is there. OR here.

No ring set I have used comes close to what you get with the Burris Xtreme Signature rings. I run them on everything from 50 BMG on down. I prefer them to anything currently being offered regardless of price.

Ended up with a Weaver 30mm medium
height rings. Everything fits. It feels good. I’m going to have to see what the recoil is before I make final adjustments. Right now it feels good with the bipod and a butt sandbag. Then I think I’ll put a little locktight on and then go to the range and see how it feels.

Any tips on any of this are much appreciated.
