Any ideas as to why Savage doesn't use a barrel nut on the rim fire rifles like the center fire models? Ruger has hit a home run with their Precision Rifle setup. All you need with either the rim fire or center fire is a common AR armoror's wrench to swap out factory barrels for a better shooting barrel. I believe the Savage design in the center fire is the main reason people like me opt for them over a Remington 700 or Winchester M70. Personally, I want to be able to change out a barrel at home and that is why I like Savages.
Unfortunately, this doesn't carry over into the rim fire line as it does with the Ruger 10/22 and Precision Rim Fire rifles.. If anyone from Savage Arms is reading this you need to get with the program.. I will say Kudos to Savage though for being the only option I have found in a .22 for a lefty.
