Need your Questions/Input for MSR FAQ article

Ok guys, I'm going to be putting together a FAQ article for the MSR series of rifles to go in the Savage FAQ section on the homepage. This will be similar in nature to the similar type of Savage Axis Modifications FAQ article we did up for the Axis when it first came out.

What I need from you guys are the questions that are frequently asked and/or info that you'd like to have that isn't readily available.

    For example:
What charging handle(s) will fit my MSR 10?
Does aftermarket triggers will fit the MSR 10/15?
Will standard AR10/15 replacement barrels fit on my MSR 10/15?
Also, if there's something you yourself had questions about in the past and have since figured out the answer or found a solution please share that as well.

Once I get a decent list of questions compiled I'll set to work on getting the answers.

Didn't we see a different type of barrel nut. Maybe something about that.

Yep, that's definitely going on the list.

There is a proprietary barrel nut and Savage does not sell a wrench for it, however, it can be removed with a pipe wrench(I know because I did it). The barrel nut needed a little heat to loosen up. The barrel extension was a typical AR 15 barrel extension, so you can replace it with any stock barrel. That being said, the gas block attaches to a proprietary gas tube, so you will have to replace the gas block / gas tube too. You could probably make the gas block work as long as you used the factory gas tube.

The problem with the gas block is two-fold: they moved the position of the gas tube retaining pin and the gas block has a funny bump that lines up with a notch on the barrel. This allows the factory worker to easily line up the gas port with the gas block by putting the bump onto the notch.

As for the trigger, I was able to install a Geissele trigger with no issues at all.

Oh I know what I use. Just adding a question for the FAQ.

My kids get sub MOA out of 168gr Sierra Match King, Hornady ELD, and Nosler Trophy Grade LR in their MSR 10s

Pretty much about the only questions I have ever had, is what parts are proprietary and what parts are interchangeable with standard pattern rifles.

That's an impossible question to answer as every barrel is going to have it's own preferences.

Not going that in-depth on things. I'll leave that to you anal-retentive types. lol

I own two. One for each of my twins. They perform identically. The guns, and the twins.
