New Alliant Power Pro powders

Anybody loading with these powders yet ??

Supposedly you can get from 150-200 fps + over normal powders.

If so what are the loads and what velocities ??

I know this is a sort of old topic, but I thought this powder looked pretty interesting and there isn't much info on it. The thing that strikes me is their advertising of it:

I put the emphasis on allowing reloaders to duplicate certain factory loaded ammo. Could this be the powder that Hornady is using in their Superformance line of cartridges? Has anyone used or seen it yet?

It probably is or a powder that is close in design.

I still have not gotten my hands on any.

I think I am going to wait on the guys over at snipers hide to run some loads.
There are a group of shooters over there loading for the 208 gr amax in 308 and trying to ring out every last FPS
out of it. That is what I want it for.

Right now there is so little info on it, and the names so confusing, no burn rates, I would not even know which one to buy.

Might have to break down and buy another pound of RL17 since it works well for the above loads

Hey guys.... I got my hands on some and I'm currently working the numbers now. I should have some data this week. My numbers will be based on the load I shoot for Mid Range F Class out of my Howa 1500.

Current Load:
175 Moly Coated Nosler
Powder: RL15 or IMR 4320
Charges: 43.0 for both
Primers: WW
Brass: WW
Vel: 2600 FPS
Barrel: 24 inch

If this shows promise... I've got a Model 10 with a 26 inch barrel I'll try it on and see where that goes. I would love to see 2900 fps with my 175 Noslers.....

I don't see why 2900 with a 175 grainers would be a problem with a 30" barrel. Not sure on a 26" barrel.

One guy over at snipers hide is getting 2750 with 208 gr amaxes over RL17
with a 30" (I think) throated barrel.

3.15" (or so) COL
Fire formed neck sized win brass.
Case full of RL17.

I got 2600 FPS out of my 22" sporter with the 208 amax over RL17 with no pressure signs in new win brass
2.95 COL.

I think there are some guys loading 175 and 185 gr bullets over RL17 too so it may give you some
ideas.

Range report:

Shot both my Howard 1500 and my Sav Mod 10.

48.5 grains of PP 2000MR, BR 2 primers, fresh Lapua Brass
Nosler 175 Comp bullet (moly).

Savage Mod 10 (26 in barrel) - vel 2850 with no signs of pressure
Issues

Howa 1500 (24 in barrel) - vel 2750 with no signs of pressure issues

Both shot groups in they .35 to .40 range.

Dial it up.

If its anything like RL17 you can really push it.

It is double base ball powder made at Radford Army Ammunition Plant by ATK and can contain up to 42% Nitroglycerin. ATK now has the contract to produce powders for the U.S. Military beating out Remington and Winchester.
