    axis 2 feeding .223

What the bleep is wrong with my rifle. The second to last round pops free of the mag every time and rattles around in the action. Most of the rounds jam into the end of the barrel and not the chamber. Just really annoying. Did I get a crappy mag or what?

I would just bend the feed lips on the magazine slightly until it feeds correctly, you want the nose of the bullet pointing upwards slightly. It's common for the nose of the bullet t make contact with the feed ramp to be guided into the action and as long as it's not jamming or damaging the nose of the bullet I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Like i said I would bend the lips until the nose of the bullet seats upward slightly, that should help with the problem, I would squeeze the lips together more in the back then open them up a little in the front if needed. Just don't squeeze until the round seats so low that the bolt can't catch it.

Sounds like the mag is faulty. Rear feed lips are too wide? My .223 feeds perfectly from the mag.

I played with it a bit. If I slam the bolt shut fast it will feed ok. Otherwise not. Tried bending the lips but not much progress

Is the stock Axis original or do you have a Boyd's stock?

Yea i originally thought it could have to do with how deep the magazine seats in the stock, esp with the Boyd's stocks coming with a separate mag catch, however I dismissed the thought when he said that the rounds were coming out the top of his magazine. That tells me that it either got bent somehow or was just never bent enough right from the factory. Hope you were able to correct the problem.

Was at the range yesterday, with my pliers cause I also had a feeding problem, and since I never checked my Axis 270 Win with the original stock, cause I ordered a Boyd stock installed before I went shooting. So like others I fed each round by hand, but yesterday since playing with live ammo, I adjusted the magazine and got it feeding properly all 4 rounds. I shot 32 rounds with feeding every round correctly.

Thank You Nub Hippie, it did the trick.

Glad I could help, I had to adjust mine a bit when I made my 10 round magazine, the rounds wanted to jam into the feed ramp, all working smoothly now tho

I was beginning to think I was the only one with a crappy magazine. Will try bending the feed lips to see if I can rectify my problems. Very frustrating.
