I have both, I "believe" the flat back is the older model.
Either one IMO should equally work just fine. I have a 338 Edge built on my Flat Back Action.
The round actions are built quicker and easier for Savage to produce.

I just ordered a 284 win barrel for a long action build. The rifle will be built on one of 2 receivers I currently have. Both are long action 110. One is round back with drop magazine top bolt release. The second is flat back blindmag with top bolt release. Is there any advantage to using one over the other? If so which would be better and why? Thanks for any help

Availability and options for scope mounts is the only issue. Some of those flatbacks were built on Monday and some on Tuesday.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Sounds like it's a toss up then as I have rails doe both.
Agreed flip the coin.
