I have a Model 99F in 284 caliber. The stamping forward of the trigger guard looks like 29V. Does anybody know what that indicates.
I got this rifle back in the 70's.
Can anyone tell me the range of value of this rifle. Bore and action is excellent. The stock has a few wear marks from the sling. I had a weaver scope mounted on it but sold the scope years ago.

Yep - need pictures, but they do have value on the collector market.
29V is the date code / inspector's stamp. Your rifle was made in 1968. High condition is the key to value, although they are also a desireable hunting rifle. My go to rifle is a 99C in 284. The more valuable F's were produced when savage still was cutting the checkering. For the 284 that is only one year, 1964.
