How do you remove the magazine from a top load 110 30.06

I bought a used 110 top load with a wood stock. As soon as I got home I started a complete cleaning. The only problem I had was removing the magazine from the stock. It feels like it is pressed into the wood. I tried to lift it out by putting my little finger on the follower and lifting up. Nothing moved. I stopped at that point, cleaned the magazine as best I could with it in place. Is there some trick to removing the magazine in this model. I downloaded the manual fromm the Savage web site, I can't find anything mentioned in the manual.
    This is one beautiful firearm!!!
    Thanks for any help.

It is pressed into the wood. I use two small screwdrivers as pry bars.
One on each end and slowly pry it out a little at a time. Watch the L-clip it might try to escape.
