I bought a pad at BassPro shop, since they had great choice to pick from, I brought my rifle, had it locked at the door, and I took all I could find upstairs to there range, and asked to enter, bring eye wear head sets, and tried them all what would be comfortable for additional recoil.
I choose the one in the picture below, for $19.99, and it did the trick with my 270 Win, shoulder never felt better after shooting.
Now after I bought it, and trimmed it to fit the stock, perfect, but found out at the range with 80 to 90 degree weather, the pad wanted to move, and shift when it got warm, so I used some clear RTV to bond it to the stock, problem solved.
So if you decide, I hope this information kelp!

I use a PAST shoulder pad.

For permanent mounting the "gel" type get my vote, but, the last time I bought one was over 20 years ago.
