    Bedding the trigger guard..

I think I am going to do this on my future builds.
Does anyone else do this and can you post some pics.

    Thanks

Each and every one Charlie. I don't have any pics doing a Savage, but a Rem.

First, get a pair of 3" 1/4-28 bolts and cut the heads off for guide screws.

I bed the guard after the action, but after the bedding cures and before taking it apart with the screws in place. Just turn the rifle upside down and use the rear screw to align the guard.

If you've previously bedded the action you can still use them to make sure the guard is aligned. They eliminate any "Gotcha's" with guard, screw and action alignment when you put the mess together.

    Re: Bedding the trigger guard..

I have headless slotted screws like yours that I use to align the action when I place it in the bedding. Your way of using the headless slotted screws as guide rods after the action is bedded makes good sense. That is the way I will bed my guards in the future.

    Thanks

    What's gained by doing this?
