    Forming 17 Hornet Brass

I have been doing a lot of looking on the web, but finding mixed reviews on forming 17 Hornet brass from 22 Hornet brass. I have tried with my Hornady dies, using new brass with and with out the sizing ball, tried once fired brass all the same. They crush the case mouth. I reload a lot of wildcats but this one is throwing me a curve ball. Any help sure would be great.

Do you mean it's happening necking down 22H to 17H? If so, maybe try a bushing resizing die and get 2 or 3 sizes of bushings to incrementally take neck size down

Sounds like Ted has the right idea. Thank you for your service. I used to be a "cheese head". Born in central Wisconsin and raised in Milwaukee.

Another thing it could be, if using forster dies... alot of people make the mistake of adjusting the decap pin to not stick out as far and that will crush cases every time. If you are using forsters (best dies out there imo.. and le wilsons) look at the Instruction.. there is a weep hole on the die that has to be lined up with the expander ball and when properly adjusted, the decap pin sticks out alot further than most dies leading people to adjust it and crush cases doing so.
