Help ,fixed magazine ,Left Hand 223

Did Savage make a model like this? is it still made ? what IS UPC # .I am almost a new member and only have a LH 22 Magnum and like it. I really like the tang safety,.I have a old hand injury that makes it difficult to load detachable magazines so I mush prefer the fixed magazine and I do not object to the blind magazine. I would consider this rifle in 204 cartridge as well. Thanks for your help .Lodgepole

Not aware of any blind magazine models being offered at the moment, but Savage made blind magazine models for decades in the past - including lefties in .223. The vast majority will be the older staggered-feed models made prior to 2008. Those made from 2003-2007 will have the AccuTrigger.

As for where to find one, keep an eye on the classifieds here and watch the various online auction and classifieds sites (gun broker, armslist, etc.)

Thanks J. Baker for your reply . I might have misstated my question partly ! The magazine with a hinged floor plate would be fine and preferred however the blind magazine would be acceptable .I believe you mean that neither of those are currently being made and that I will need to search for used .Could you refer me to a chart that list the model & code #s to denote the fixed magazine .Thanks for your help .The Savage model nos. do give me fits .Appreciate your time

Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

I would highly recommend looking around for one that’s on a good sale. Replace the dbm stock with what you’re wanting. Or just leave the dbm and leave the magazine in place. Hell a few guys I know duct tape across the mag while hunting so that there is no chance of losing it.

Is there somewhere where lodgepole (and myself) can buy a blind magazine? I have a B&C blind mag stock and centerfeed acrion. Looking to do a build but can’t find a blind box and follower. This would work for Lodgepole too I beleive

Thank you for the help ! Can the DBM be loaded when the mag is installed in receiver and loaded from the top ?(through the port ) If so I would seriously consider that option. Thanks RJ that would work.

The newer centerfeed stock the magazine part is the same I do believe with the addition of a metal L clip that sits under the rear receiver.

You could load the DBM through the top.

Rusty, that is great news ! That opens up a whole lot of possibilities for me . If I can stuff them in with my thumb I would not fumble around holding the clip in my right hand (25 % OK )and drop my clip in 2 ft of powder snow . Thanks

I’ll test it out with a 243 here in a minute and let you know. I don’t know why it wouldn’t work.

Just loaded a mag through the action. Worked like a champ.

It’s a model 11 trophy hunter with the plastic axis style magazine.

...and I supppose if you wanted to make a (more permanent) blind mag from a dbm you could epoxy it in place. Slightly unconventional but it should work

I have a model 11 trophy hunter 223 and it loads easily from the top and I actually prefer to load it that way. The mag can be removed to load separately, but I always liked internal box mags.

Mine cycles them fine and I just had it at the range today, it works just like removing the mag and loading it. I also have a hog hunter in 223 with the internal box mag so I can compare them together, they function identical.

I had an old FLV in .223 that was a blind mag. I thought it was a pain to load.

My flat back left hand blind Mag in 22-250 is not hard to top load.

On thing that does complicate matters is a one piece scope base, not the rifle’s fault. A set of separate bases would clear that up.
