    Edge Bolt Disassembly

Does anyone have instructions or pictures on how to disassemble the bolt for a Savage Edge? I would like to see what parts are interchangeable between the other savage bolt action models.

I will save you the trouble.
The bolt head is interchangeable, and the rest has nothing in common with the 110/10 series rifles. The internals are closer in design to a 220 shot gun.
The bolt comes apart like any savage rifle.
This is a exploded view of a Edge bolt.

Are the bolt heads and baffles the same as the 110 or 10?

The Edge doesn't have a "rear" baffle, it has a coking ramp built into the back of the bolt handle, between it and the cut in the back of the receiver, this primarily extracts the case. As stated before the bolt head is the same. The front baffle is slightly different, not sure if they interchange.(I dont see why not.) As you can see in the picture the front baffle has a set cut in it to allow the bolt to travel further toward the rear.

Does anyone know if the bolt handle is interchangeable with the 10/110? I like the larger tactical bolt handles.

I was looking at the bolt on an Axis this past weekend, and there wasn't the standard allen wrench type bolt at the end. Is the picture you posted of an Axis / Edge, or a standard savage?

Make certain there is no cartridge in the chamber. Put the bolt in the rifle and cock it. Dry fire and then check the back of the bolt. Should be 1/4" Allen head to loosen it. Take bolt out of rifle and finish unscrewing it by hand. This is on an Edge bolt, should be the same on the Axis ?? Good luck.

Thank you, it must have been that the bolt was out. It makes sense now.

I can't find an Allen screw anywhere on the back of the bolt on my Savage Edge. How do I get the back cap off?
