Replacement stock for a 116 Weather Warrior with blind magazine?

    I have a 116 Weather Warrior in 30-06 with a blind magazine.

The stock is bent towars the muzzle and is touching the barrel. I would like to explore options for other hunting stocks for this rifle.

I plan on sanding it to remove some of the stock so it does not touch, but want other options.

    Any suggestions?

Loosen the 2 pillar bedded action screws, adjust the action/barrel to center the stock and re-torque the screws. Sometimes you have to try it couple times to get it centered good but it should go. Be aware though, the amount of torque on these screws could and probably will change how tight a rifle groups.

As far as replacement stocks..... Google is all powerful my friend. A search for "savage replacement stocks" should keep you up all night lol

You can get aftermarkets anywhere from $80-90 up to a couple hundred. Some of the lower end replacements aren't any better than the factory as far as a rigid fore end.

You could glass in the foregrip on your factory stock and use something to stiffen it up like a steel dowel rod laid in the glass.

B&C stocks are a great value, especially when they're on sale at Midway.

    I love my stockade stocks.

Frank, I think 3/8 would be fine as long as it's stiff enough not to flex. I've only done 2 myself. One with 2 pieces of 3/8 all thread (worked fine) and one using a tip a read "somewhere on the web" lol.... A chevy small block pushrod. I just roughed it up with sandpaper so it would stick to the epoxy. Worked like a charm. Plus pushrods are hollow yet rigid so I saved some weight over using the allthread.

Keep in mind though you can get something like a Bell & Carlson or a Boyds stock for well under $100 and not have to do all the prep work. And they usually come with a really good recoil pad.

While you're working on it, Replace the plastic trigger guard with a metal one. I can't handle the thought of tightening any action down using a plastic washer which is what you have on the rear action screw on the plastic trigger guard.
