    Free Float Tang?

Is this something that needs to be worried about with the axis? it doesn't seem to have a traditional tang. If there is anywhere behind the rear action screw that should be free floated then where? I intend to bed my stock from the recoil lug back to the front of the mag well and then bed around the rear pillar where the rifle makes contact with the stock. When setting my pillars do I want everything behind them to be free floated?

Axis has no tang. Bed from the recoil lug to the rear screw. Just remember that the trigger bracket must be in place and drawn tight against the pillar. Fill in around the trigger bracket with some clay so you don't get any mechanical lock with the bedding .
