    New Savage 99 owner

I have a Savage 99 that’s been gifted to me from my brother. I see the serial number is 26.205 stamped on the bottom. I entered the number on a savage search site and it stated manufactured 1903. Not so sure if that’s correct, any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Also, where can I find ammo for this rifle, no local suppliers have any in stock... ugh

    Thanks!
    Brian

the 303sav and the 303Brit are not the same caliber, you must use 303 savage ammo !!!!

Thanks for your input guys! So as I’m learning this rifle, the .303 is a .308 diameter round; was confused when Grafs ammo listed it as such. Any experienced references if the Hornady rounds shoot well? I only have shooting experience with my Marlin 30-30 using Winchester or Remington ammo. Just want to get good ammunition for it and possibly knock a deer down this season!

Hornady make a 150gr load. It has shot decent out of my 99 but I haven't taken any game with them but would not hesitate to do so.

Whoa... I forgot about the 303 Savage. I thought it was weird he would have a 303 British but I've seen stranger things in rifles

Thank you for catching my mistake!!
