    Hornady 338 230 grain ELDX

Has anyone tried these yet? I'm wondering how they'll hold up/perform on game in a 338 Lapua or if it would be pushing it too fast.

I have been giving them a try in a 338 RUM (so the same velocity as the Lapua). All I can say so far is that they group well out to 600 yards. They were very easy to get to shoot (thankfully- since it is a fairly light weight hunting rifle and I was feeling a little abused). I didn't get to hunt with them so all they have shot was targets, but they did punch a hole through 1/2" mild steel at 100 yards. When I went to the local gun shop they were around $0.34 a bullet for the 230's and over $0.80 a bullet for the 270's so I thought it was worth a try. Midway has them for 30 cents a piece right now.
