    IMR4166 for 75-90gr 223 REM.

I plan to try this new enduron powder eventually. EU has banned some old powder recipes and these Enduron formulas are up to the new standards.

Anyone tried 4166 out? They claim it is like varget.

Im currently fireforming brass in a 7 twist 223 Match CBI barrel. I need to get a load worked up for 75-88gr's boolits.

My understanding is that it is kind of like an improved version of IMR4064.I bought some that was on sale for $22 or$23 a pound last year and tried it in my 7mm08,and was disappointed with accuracy, and gave up on it because I already had plenty of accurate ammo loaded with 4064 for last deer season..I realize now that the accuracy issue is probably not the powders fault .I had bought some 139gr Interlock blems from Midway a few years ago,and they shot great over 4064.They were flatbase, but the ones I bought in town are boat tail .I can't get them to shoot to my satisfaction with 4064 either..I wouldn't think the twist on any 7-08 would be so slow as to be finicky with 139s,but mine is having issues with them for some reason.

I used it as a substitute for H4350 in my 22-250. Very good, IMOP. Should work fine for what your using.
I'll be trying 80 SMKS in my 8 twist CBI. I have Varget but am open to other powders if something different might be better.

I have a couple of pounds of 4166 but I haven't tried it yet.
I did try its slower brother IMR4451 in my 6.5mm Creedmoor that likes IMR4350 and the 4451 shoots a bit more accurately.

I am hoping that the IMR4166 is an improvement over IMR4064 which my .308s really like.

A bit of accuracy improvement never hurts.

Closer to 4064 than Varget .. Have yet to try in 223, but in a quick test I've gotten 1/2" @100 in my .308W. Since it is so close in burn speed to 4064 that wasn't a surprise.

Thanks for the feedback PaddyD. I'll try it in my next loading session for my .308 10 FP and 10 FCP-K.
