    Marlin barrel in m10 savage

    I have a Marlin 223 barrel. When trying to put it on a Savage M10 action, nut fully forward, the action, with NOGO gage, stops turning before the bolt has any resistance to turning. Either the recoil; lug is too thick, or the threaded portion of the nut is too long. Is there an easy fix to this problem?
    Thanks;
    joe b.

    Or the threaded portion of the Marlin barrel is shorter. Is it a Savage nut or a Marlin nut?

    Depending on how much more you need, it is possible to remove a thread or two with a lathe from the inside front of the nut.
    I used a dremmel with a drum sander for this a couple of times. The partial threads in the front of the nut may be removed with no visual effect.
    I wouldn't remove more than 3 threads for peace of mind.
    Not to be critical, you probably mentioned the nogo gauge to illustrate your point, but normally most of us set headspace with a go gauge.
    How much less threads measure on the Marlin barrel than a Savage?
