Have you compared the od of the tap to the od of the screw?
I'd like to know what size hole and thread pitch that's in the bolt body of a Savage Model 25. I have tried a 1/4" by 28 tap but it don't seem right. Goes about 2 threads and stops. Could this be 32 pitch ? Or something Savage made up.
Thanks In Advance
Bill

The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
I just finished working with the bolt and 1/4 x 32 is indeed the size. The old bolt had no threads left to go by. Now if Savage will sell me a new one I'll be in business. If not I'll have to make my own.
This gun doesn't belong to me, it belongs to a shooting buddy. I really want to get this repaired and on the gun.
FYI
I ordered some parts for a Savage, Model 25 today. They sold me ejector pin with spring, and A NEW BOLT HANDLE. They would not sell me a firing pin spring. Told me I needed FFL.

Got my parts from Savage that I ordered last Tuesday. Took one week to the day. Best part,I got them all for free. Had to order the firing from FFL and had that in the same time frame and that was free.
Hear bad things about Savage but they treated me fine.
