    S.C. Hunting / .260 with a 140 Amax "Very Successfull"

We just got back from S.C. deer hunting for the weekend. I had great success with my .260 that I built on a Mauser action. 3 shots 3 DEAD DEER, 140 Amax. I've killed deer with Noslers Ballistic Tips and the Amax will do the job just as well. I went to Longerange Hunting and did a search for post on hunting Amax bullets. There are hundreds of post and not 1 negative. I'll use the Amax's with confidence in all my calibers.

3 dead deer???? Pictures???? Did you shoot them off a porch??? No Savage???
Sound like a great trip, Snowman!!! Congrats. Now your chef son-in-law can cook you some delectable venison dishes.
Hopefully my turn in November. Same Mauser setup since they were made in the same old man's shop.
    have a great day

I forgot my camera, but my brother Ronny didn't forget his. When he e-mails them to me I'll send them to you. Ray's 74 year old father inlaw that had never killed a deer got a big doe. He shot it with a 116 .270 Winchester Savage. Ronny and Ray passed on a lot of deer. I wanted to see what kind of damage those 105 Amax's do out of Ronny's Savage. It will have to wait till next time.

What area of the state did you hunt? I miss hunting back there. Season runs from Aug 15 through Jan 1 with no daily or yearly limit if you are on private land. Only "tags" or for does, all you need for bucks is just your liscense, last time I bought one there it was $20 for hunting and fishing liscense for a year. Please post up pics and give as much info as possible.

Nice area to hunt. I never hunted that area as I had my places to go but I knew some that hunted in Manchester forrest. I lived in Sumter for about 5 yrs while stationed at Shaw AFB. I grew up right across the lake, out side of Santee. Tell him to hurry up with some pictures.
