Model 27B 22Short, Long, Long Rifle

Hey ya'll, haven't been around in a bit, been buried with several things.
But anyway, my son inherited a Savage/Stevens model 27B from my Dad when he passed who had gotten it from his Dad. It's a pump action take down that was made to fire 22 shorts, 22 longs and 22 long rifles. They aren't collectors or anything like that but I was just wondering if any of you might have one. There was a model 27A that was pre ww2 and the B model was post WW2. It is a good little gun thats fun to shoot, and this one comes with a personal story about my grandpa. Actually my son doesn't shoot much anymore, he says he wants to get into shooting large rifles now. That sounds great to me cause he's been one of those young ones who loves the video games and You Tube etc.

It's a 29B They replaced the 29A in 1950 and were last cataloged in 1967. Savage started using date codes in 1949, there should be a small circle stamped on the barrel just ahead of the receiver that contains a number and a letter - the letter is the date code starting with 'A' for 1949 and not using O or Q. I have found both 29A's and 29B's with the 'B' date code for 1950. There were a least four different forearms designs used on early 29B's finally becoming standardized about 1952 and they started grooving the receivers for scopes in 1954. They started bluing the slide arms about 1953~1954, all earlier pumps had the slide arms left 'in the white', blued slide arms on early pumps are an indication of a refinished gun.

The 29A's & B's were the strongest pump action Savage made, the earlier Model 29 was of marginal strength for use with Hi-Speed ammunition, so I suggest shooting only Standard Velocity in them and the earlier models should only use that, or lighter.
