    Retirement

Spent Friday morning at the range, was there all morning by myself, on one of my many breaks i looked up the word retirement ( the action of leaving one's job and ceasing to work) life is good.

Awesome! I relish those days alone at the range :)

I am well on my way to joining you in 10 1/2 years if all goes according to plan. So far the plan is going well, and if the next 6 years in my 401K go as well as my last 2, then I will be a happy camper! :)

Retirement is good if you get out on your own conditions. LOTS of folks get carried out by no choice of their own. Work till you drop???
I was on a roll till I had a couple of medical issues. Had plans to do the part time thing. Never got that far. Finally figured out "someone was trying to tell me something" so I hung it up for good. Have been back a time or two to "hold down the fort" while the boss went on vacation. Got to see some of the folks that I hadn't seen in a while. Been off long enough now to NEVER GO BACK and not even consider it.
Still miss the folks but not that much. Been too busy to think about working. Busy enough that I can't even get to the range.
    That needs to change.

I had a great job with a great retirement, i worked for DOD (Department of Defense) for 32 years and held several jobs, the most enjoyable ones was lab director and water plant supervisor. spent the last twelve in Fairbank Alaska.

One thing I enjoy is running into someone I know and havn't seen for a while. I can stop and BS all I want and don't have to think about having to "get back to work". My time is my own. Still start my day around 4:30/5:00 AM every morning. The way that goes, my guess is it that will never change.

Given enough time, pretty much everything we do becomes old.
    Including retirement.

Rob, worked at Pine Bluff Arsenal and had great people to work with and for. Didn't mind working for Govt, pretty good benefits, had both knees replaced in 2007 used my sick leave and retired in 2008. Several friends were firemen there also.
