    New Savage Owner from Arizona

    Hi Everyone,
First time Savage owner, have a couple of Storms on order for myself and my wife in 300wm and 30-06. Located in Chino Valley, AZ. Will be using the arms primarily for elk hunting. Will be doing research on how to get the best accuracy of of these two arms. Looking for loads that work particularly well in them and anything to avoid.

30-06: 56 grains H4350 under the 168 gr. Barnes TTSX= 2780 fps and 1 MOA groups or just under.

300 WM: don't have any load data for that one, but I have a friend that uses the H1000 under the 200 grain Hornady ELD bullet for long range.

Thanks for the info SageRat, I'll give the 06 formula a try as soon as it's ready to shoot.
    Thanks for the welcome drybean.

You're welcome... Please note: while the 56 grain load is not max in my rifle, it is still a pretty stout load, so you may want to work up to it... I'm working off the idea that you are shooting the 300 WM and your wife the 30-06. But not sure how recoil sensitive she may be... I know I don't like pulling the trigger too many times on my 7.5 lb 30-06.

Thanks SageRat, We have been using 180 gr bullets, but a 168 in the 06 should work just about as well. I will work up to the 56gr load. Wife is pretty good about adsorbing recoil, I believe she will be OK. shooting a BAR right now. Switching to the Storm to a better fit for both of us.
