    Small Shank 257WM


    Anyone every built a 257 WM on a small shank savage? I am thinking of playing with one again had a 700 cdl in the 257 its was a shooter .

    Yes I have two of them in small shank a 12 twist and a 10 twist, I also have a 270 WM small shank and all shoot flawlessly.

    Savage initially only used the large shank for the WSM's and RUM's due to their larger body diameter. Standard belted mags (7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag., .458 Win Mag) were always built on standard shank actions.

    I think in this case they OP meant Weatherby Mag. when referring to WM.
