Noticed I was about down to my last two 1,000ct boxes of CCI BR2 primers today so I thought I would run down to my LGS to see if I could pick up a couple more boxes. Suffice to say I about had a heart attack when I saw what they had them priced at... $64.99 per 1,000! Holly sheep-dip Batman!
Now for comparison let's look at the following photo...
The top box was purchased around 2009 or 2010 for the outrageous sum of $27.95 + tax. The bottom box was purchased in late 2014 or early 2015 and still reflects the post Sandy Hook crazy price of $42.99 per 1,000. Now just 3-4 years later they're up another $22 for no other reason than "we can."
Best price I've found online at this point is a little over $51, but that still seems ridiculously high to me. Guess I'm going to have to work up some new loads with different primers for a couple rifles as CCI has jacked the price on these so much that the slightly better consistency over their standard #200 primers isn't worth paying nearly twice the money for the BR2's.

Big difference between what something is worth, and what people will pay.
A few years back when all the hoarding of primers was taking place, the world got to see what people would pay.
I kept some 1 lb powder containers with price tags of well under $2.00 bought in the 70s. I remember well buying a 20# container of H870 for $20.00 in Butte Mt. in the mid 70s.
I remember buying a bottle of Coke for a dime.....20 yrs ago a box of Eley Tenex costs $7.00. The first box of Nosler Ballistic tips I bought was $7.50. The first Leupold scope I purchased was a 6.5 x 20 Vari-x III with a varmint dot, back in '92. It cost a whopping $337.00. My first child was born in 1983, the total delivery costs were $795. Nothin's cheap anymore......

Hell, what used to be a box of 100 bullets are now a box of 50 for about the same price. I buy primers by 3 boxes of 1000 to stay ahead of these prices. You can bet next presidential election prices will go nuts if polls show a democrat winning. I plan to have enough before that happens.

I didn't have any insurance when our first was born in 1960, just wrote out a check which wasent very big.
