Savage 93 mag plate for synthetic stock

I purchased a synthetic stock from savage for a savage 93r17. I was switching from the wood stock. The mag plate off the factory wood stock does not fit properly.

When I called savage to order the right plate I was told there is only one plate used for both wood and synthetic stocks. I just don't believe that is so.
Does anyone know the correct part number for the synthetic stock mag plate?
    Thanks

How old is your 93R17? Is it an E-receiver model? Have the AccuTrigger?

Unfortunately Savage has a bad habit of making changes to parts but reusing the same part number for both the old and new version as the new versions is a phased in and the old version is phased out as inventory is depleted. That said, it's entirely possible they shortened up the bottom plate without ever changing the mold for the stock to reflect the change which would account for why the plate is shorter than the recessed area for it in the stock.
