    Working a deal on a FCP .338

I am looking to trade my LRP 6.5cm on a FCP in .338. I have another rifle in 6.5cm and I have a good bit of .338 ammo stocked up. I have a range where I can shoot beyond 1k yards and want to use the .338 for beyond 1,500.

I have been completely happy with my LRP but I have read (other sites) that the FCP's may have issues. Anything major to look at while I am looking the rifle before the trade is done?

I have .338 headspace gauges and will use them to check HS before I put a round downrange. The "story" is that it has 45 rounds on it and it looks fresh in the pictures.

I have the savage 338 LM FCP. Bought it used on this form. Never heard of any issues. I reload for mine with H1000 and Hornady 285 ELD-M. Shot 1000 yards last year hitting 10 for 10 shots. Awesome rifle as far as I am concerned. Want to do the 1 mile milk jug challenge in Utah sometime in the near futures. Get it, you will love it.

I picked the 338 up yesterday and it shot awesome out to 1250 yards.

Wow! That ammo would cost more than the rifle!

ammo isn’t cheap for the 338. Have to pay to play. Awesome hearing that clang at 1000 yards with authority. Nice scope. I have a Burris XTR II 4-20 on mine.

Yes, it is nice to hear the clang at 1250 but if my old ears cannot hear it... at least the 338 makes a lot bigger mark than my 6.5 creedmoor lol. The best thing about the rifle is the recoil is MUCH less than I expected. The break sure does its job. Rifle was very smooth, no stuck cases or any issues at all.

Love the trigger on mine. Wish my savage 10T 308 trigger was this good. Binding kind of pisses me off if I try to load to fast. Yes, the brake is awesome on this rifle. Almost went with the stealth version but that has a 24 inch barrel vs 26 on the FCP. Have a range that has 1200 yard targets but is about 3 hours away. Anything closer requires membership so stuck at 200 yards max that’s close. Hoping to get out to Utah next year to try the milk jug challenge. Have to wait for my 3 discs to fuse before I can shoot my 338 again. That won’t be until around Christmas.
