    Savage J series....rebarrel

I have a J series 22-250 which I purchased new in 1979. I am considering getting a 6mm AI barrel for this gun. Will this intermediate action be long enough or should I get a LA for this cartridge. Also stocks for this spacing are few and far between.

Any thoughts on action lenght, barrel maker, SF or CF, stock, etc. would be greatly appreciated. This will be a first buiild.

Other Savages in the safe are: Predator in 22-250
    BGTV SS in 204
    F Class 6mm BR

Best bet is to call SSS, they can do the stock for you. Stockade will also do a stock for it, as does Richards Microfit although I dont recommend them unless you wanna do alot of finish inletting work yourself. If your J action has a magbox it is a staggerfeed, but it shouldnt matter cause these 3 places are about your only options.
As for barrels, SSS, Northlander(Shilen and McGowen), SinArms(Brux, LW) are all good places to get what you need. Wait times vary between manufacturer so it'll be up to you, but they are all top quality barrels.
