Looking for a Range in DFW Area

    Hi everyone,
This my first post. I have the model 10, 308 which I've had approximately 2 yrs now. I've primarily used it on paper targets at 100 yds, am interested in finding a range (s) in the DFW area or within 50 miles where I could practice some distance shooting, ultimately to do some hog/deer hunting, and also dabble in some long range competitions. I'm a novice to this point, with the exception of 1000 yd KD ranges when I was in the Marine Corps, and combat prep ranges when I was in the Army. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Doc

Jazzman, Thanks for your service. Take a look at these ranges. Triple C is a good place to go out to 2000 yds.

Have not tried it yet, but up to 200 on the short range and 800 on the long, provided you show them you can shoot first: http://fossilpointe.net/

So I spent the day at Fossil Pointe. The staff is really laid back and nice to work with. The 50/100/200 range is self regulated if not busy. I didn't care for the benches as they span multiple positions and can shake as others move around. But other than that they are fine. Cold AC in the bathroom is a plus :-) Once you prove 5 shots at MOA on the 200 you can go out to the 800 range. They only charged me for the 800 and nothing additional for spending 4 hours at the 200 shooting my hand loads. The 800 starts at 250 and works up at 50 yard steps. All steel targets....usually at least 1 full body silhouette and then more challenging round targets. You have to prove 5 hits on target at 500 to move beyond that. The 800 is covered but all shots are prone on gravel, so bring a mat. You will be shooting down into a valley and the view is actually pretty nice. The RO is more than happy to spot for you and get you on target. Bring your own food as they have a clubhouse, but it's not a restaurant. I had my 12FV in .223 consistently hitting 5" circles at 500. All in all, highly recommended!

Gibson's (across the street from Devil's Bowl Speedway) used to have a 200m range.
