    Thread barrel for brake

So, I was surprised when I received my new barrel, (22Creedmoor) about 3 weeks before I expected it. Just waiting on a new recoil lug, should be here tomorrow. Anyway, I had been mulling whether or not to have the barrel maker thread it for me. That went out the window with the early delivery. How much should I expect to pay to have the barrel threaded at this point? Where to have it done?

Now would be a good time to try it without a break. It doesn't take much to tear it down if you want it later.

Depends a bit on how the smith is going to set up the barrel. If the smith simply chucks the barrel with a center in the muzzle $50 sounds about right. If he sets it up properly and zeros off the last few inches of the bore you can probably expect $100-150

Ouch, I might be way off but I can get a quality chamber and action thread job for a Savage 150 locally. I guess it depends on where you are.

Depends whether it's "just" turning the tenon and threading to your spec, or if it includes setting back the shoulder to index the brake, and many brakes require the smith to bore to correct dimension as well. I charge $100 for all the above- many charge a lot more.

There's quite a bit a work in setting up the barrel for proper work. Video shows chamber end, but the set up is the same for either end.

Send it to this guy, he will return it with your choice of threads, shipping paid for $60 US. He is set up and almost all he does in his lathe with many happy customers.
