Very nice, it cleaned up well!! My first 1899 was a .303 takedown, I put the Lyman tang on it, more better than a buckhorn sight for old eyes! I found mine shoots best with heavy bullets, 180 RN's and R-7 powder.

I grabbed this .303 Model 1899-H at a nearby Cabela's two years ago for chump change (it had white paint splatter & decals all over it - which I gently removed), but have recently acquired a vintage Lyman 1-A tang sight that fits.
I'm considering removing the red-dot sight (etc), and just hunt with the tang sight on it (I already swapped out the front sight blade for a Lyman Ivory bead - whaddya think ?

My first deer rifle was a 99 in 303 Savage. Bought it used when I was 14. Regret selling it. Enjoy yours.
